This is absolutely the best hostel in the world and I have traveled a great deal. The owner Joachim will go completely out of his way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. Joachim will even cook you free meals on some nights. The one word of caution about this place is that if you are not into alcohol I would not suggest it otherwise Joachim will guarantee you will become shitfaced at least one night at the hostel during pub crawls. My last memory of the last night I was there was me walking out of the nearby pub, I don't even remember if I paid my tab (Joachim, thanks if you covered that for me.) and then wakening up on the hostel floor with my head soaked on my own vomit. My flight was at 5:30 and Joachim made sure I made it to a taxi in time for the flight even in my shitfaced state. If I missed my flight Joachim said he would buy me a first class ticket back home. I sure enough made my flight thanks to the help of Joachim and even if I puked all over the floor without cleaning it up I am sure Joachim would welcome me back anytime. If you only stay in one hostel in your lifetime make sure it is this one. Facilities are clean and the location is excellent.

I was thoroughly satisfied with the quality and care that goes into the running of this hostel. From the get go, that is, by itself, the hostel is in a great location. Located just a 5 minute walk from Kreschatik street and a mere 1 minute walk from the Tolstoho Ploscha metro station, it is great for the traveler. In a city like Kyiv, where the street signs are invisible and cars make the streets a virtual no mans land, the proximity to the metro station made it easy to find and come back to. It is close to a McDonald's, which is open 24 hours and a few 24 hour supermarkets. On first entering the hostel I noticed how clean and well organized it was. The hostel hostesses Anna/Marina do a great job of making the hostel an enjoyable place to live in. Although it was small, this was extremely beneficial to getting to know fellow travelers and in turn enrich my traveling experience. The kitchen is very good and the table is mid sized. I had some excellent curry made in the kitchen by fellow hosteller, Roger, and it was a reflection of the myriad of appliances and cooking tools available. Down the hall was the common room. which featured two chairs, a comfy couch and a big screen television and a computer that travelers could use. After a day of sight seeing and walking, I found this room was a good place to chill and talk. As for the toilet and shower facilities, I found them to be good and very clean/well maintained. The dorm room is also comfortable. the beds are soft and the bunk beds firm and well put together. The sheets were clean and as I have seen with my own eyes, the sheets are washed and tumble dried before the next traveler. Probably one of the best features of the hostel was the staff. They put a lot of work into assuring a fucking brilliant time in Kiev. The owner, Joachim, brings all guests to the Hospital Bar, and you mustn't turn this down. He knows the place well and after a night there, you will agree with his claim that it is the best bar from Berlin to Vladivostok. He directed me to a 3 hour walking tour of Kiev, which allowed me to see 70 percent of what Kiev had to offer for day sights. He knows the city well, and so do the other staff. My trip was saved by their knowledge of the confusing train ticket system and they can help you figure it out. Besides staff help, they provided a library of free literature - including maps and guide books for private perusal, a great aid in planning out the rest of the trip. Overall, this hostel is the best I have been to so far and I will definitely come back when I can, even if it's out of the way.

Fantastic hostel. Booked it because it looked okay, but was happily surprised at how great it is. It's small, which is good, and whilst I am not usually one for getting involved, it is worth hanging out with the others and discovering the nightlife of Kyiv with them - and the cool little bar with Joachim, the manager, will take you. Just don't plan on an early start the following day. I'll be back when I'm in Kyiv next. You ought to stay here if you end up here too.

I've travelled across asia and europe and without sounding too emotional, this is the BEST hostel I've ever stayed in. If you plan to stay 1 night you will be sure to extend till 3, 4 or maybe 5. Your travel plans will be ruined because you will be surrounded by so awesome people that touring the city sights becomes irrelevant once you step into the hostel. Be warned! 10/10.

Akim the owner and Yura are the best guys in the hostel business in Ukraine. They get it and the hostel is a great example of what you can expect from a group of guys that understand cleanliness, order, privacy and fun. These guys go out of the way to help out guests including walking bags out for your, ironing for you, and feeding you whenever possible. You feel like you are at home and amongst good friends. I recommend you go to this hostel if you are going to stay in Kiev. It is near near anything and everything you need access to. You will be glad you did!

Though i spent only two days at this hostel, it was just the right way to spend new year's eve here! The good spirit of this hostel once you open the door, and the staff that welcomes you makes a stay feel very cosy. Thumbs up!

I am very satisfied to stay at this hostel. I felt very comfortable to stay in this hostel and they did anything for me. The staffs are very kind and helpful for me anytime even when late at night. I strongly recommend all of the tourists must stay at this hostel. And the location of this hostel is very convinient to access anywhere in Kiev. The price of stay at the dorm is pretty reasonable. I am sure that you will be happy to stay at this hostel while you visit at Kiev.

Great hostel. The best I've ever been to! It can be hard to find though, and the directions were not updated. Instead of a brown door, it will be a white door, as construction is taking place. You will not need to enter a code for this door. This is as of 15/12/2010. May change in the future! Staff is superb, they are very friendly and fun and will take you to sites, bars, clubs, cafes and show you where to go. Facilities are excellent, there is a sauna, modern shower and very clean facilities. It is also well heated in the winter and very cheap. When you go, you may find yourself spending more time in Kiev than you previously planned! Such a great city. I recommend this hostel 100%.

Character, location - great! Other - only small defects like no key to private room, not working fridge (but second does). As a plus I should mention new windows. Stuff? More than the best! Greetings Johaness and Jura :-)

Okay, I am Korey I am from Canada. I was supposed to stay here for a couple nights. Upon arrival I didnt like it the front entrance was under construction and the toilet was almost busted but with in a day the place really came together! There was a new toilet installed aswell as a beautiful shower and the staff felt like family. I end up staying a week. It is in a very good location and the staff is super helpful, not only that they were willing to come out with you to show you the best places for your money and to best enjoy your time in Kiev! Cheers I will be back my frieds!
