Uzice (Serbian: Užice; Serbian Cyrillic: Ужице) is a city and municipality in western Serbia. It is the administrative center of the Zlatibor District. The city is located on the banks of Detinja River. The 2002 Census Data records that the city has a total population of 55,025. Including the suburban settlements of Buar and Sevojno, the Uzice city proper has 83.022 inhabitants. The region surrounding Uzice was first settled by Illyrians, specifically the Parthini and Autariatae tribes. Their tombs are found throughout the region.
