Krasnoyarsk (Russian: Красноярск) is a city and the administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, located on the Yenisey River. It is the third largest city in Siberia, with population of 948,500 (2009 est.). Krasnoyarsk is an important junction of the Trans-Siberian Railway and one of Russia's largest producers of aluminium. The city was founded in July of 1628 as a Russian border fort.
