In December 2004 two Aussies living in Hanoi converted a former Diplomat's house into Vietnam's first and only international style Backpackers' Hostel. The idea was simple 'Let's make a place where we'd want to stay'. So the hostel is kept laidback, safe, clean and social.

| Hanoi Backpackers isn't the cheapest hostel and isn't in the best location in the city, but it makes up for this ten fold with it's fun, friendly, and helpful staff, clean living areas, decent breakfast, and cheap happy hour at the bar in the lobby. In additions, Hanoi Backpackers is an experienced tour company and they run tours right from the front desk. The best way to see a lot in and around Hanoi is through tours and you will find a lot of companies in the city trying to sell you on one of theirs. If you tell HB what time you have and what you're looking for, they will take care of you. I was very impressed. My favorite tour from Hanoi Backpackers was a visit to "Snake Village". Seeing live cobras, taking shots with beating snake hearts, and eating snake and drinking all the rice wine you can. Man, what an experience! |
