Quba (also, Kuba, Guba and Kuwa) is a city in and the capital of the Quba Rayon of Azerbaijan. It has a population of 23,541. The city's suburb of Qırmızı Qəsəbə (also known as Krasnaya Sloboda in Russian) is the home of Azerbaijan's largest community of Mountain Jews and considered as one of the largest community of Jews in the former-Soviet Union. The history of Guba city origins from the village of Gudial. The Quba Khanate was established in the mid of 18th century and Quba's Khan Hussain Ali moved his residence from Khudat to Quba and raised the fortress walls around the city.
